quick facts about me
My passion for photography began many years ago and I joined the professional world of photography in 2010, finding my niche and soft spot for newborns and children in the last 7 years or so. I'm very passionate about working with newborns and young children in my home studio and I feel very strongly about newborn safety. You will find posts on my website, blog and social media about this topic as it is very important to me.
I have 4 siblings and am the only one who has taken interest in art and photography.
I am a fur mom to Chevy, my chocolate lab and also 2 kitties - Holly and Opry.
My fur kids are my family and my world. I'm a mom away from mom, a teacher and leader in my dayhome and the kids I care for I consider like family.
Working with children and families is something I enjoy in all areas of my life as well as just being creative, having fun in my work and making people happy.
I put my heart and soul into my photography, it is a huge part of who I am and what I am about.
Thank you for visiting, I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do!
+ I do not like coffee and I don't have children of my own yet. I'm asked all the time how I can run a dayhome and work with kids all the time when I have none and without caffeine haha.
+ All the pets I have ever owned, I've either had from birth or rescued and cared for their entire life, including a koi fish of 11 years. I've never given up an animal for any reason.
+ My favorite dessert is warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. Yum!
+ I've lived in Lethbridge or Coaldale my whole life. Boring I know but it makes travelling that much better.
+ I've never been an athletic person, but I've dragon boat raced for over 10 years - pre pandemic of course.
+ I'm a very introverted person other than with my family and I love the sound of silence.
My family above all and I always knew it but living through a pandemic and unable to live life normal, family has become even more valuable. You know the saying you can't pour from an empty cup? A large part of filling mine is through family. My pets are my family also, I have a huge soft spot for animals and my pets are all treated like family.
I love country music and live concerts which I am missing like crazy right now. This is something my family does together.
My favorite color is pink although I prefer more natural color pallet's for my home and studio.
Babies and children, of course! and photographing them.
I don't have a sweet tooth, I have many!
I love travel, the mountains and being near water.
THINGS I LOVE
that feed my soul
My style in general is simplistic and focusing on the people and connections in the images. I love light pastel and natural colors for newborns but do like to get creative with set ups for smash and splash sessions. Family sessions are outdoors in a park setting where the kids can just run and play and we can capture everyone being as silly and relaxed as possible.
I really don't drink very often, I can make a bottle of wine last months but when I do relax with a drink I go for something sweet and fruity.
My regular every day obsession though is iced tea, I really have a problem there haha.
Being a professional photographer wasn't really my goal initially. I was obsessed with the camera in my early teens but at the time it was just another art form I enjoyed. After taking photos for family and friends for many years, someone asked me why I didn't do it for a career because I was good at it and it made me happy. I think I was licensed and up and running as a business within the year and it was the best decision I ever made. I dove in and learned as much as I could and I practiced constantly. There are not many things I am completely obsessed over, that I can't go a day without thinking about. Photography and providing what I do for families is my biggest passion. Getting to snuggle sweet newborns is one of the best perks!
I was born and raised in Lethbridge, only moved down the road to Coaldale but I have only ever lived in our climate yet I absolutely hate the cold!
I instantly become a different person when we hit the mid to high 20's (minus the wind). Warmth and sunshine gives me all the good feels!
I hate to say it, but I haven't been very far. I've been just over the border a few times for dragon boat racing, to Vancouver once and the furthest I have ever been back in 2009 was Cuba with my family. That was my most memorable vacation and I would give anything to do it again. Otherwise, I would have to say in terms of visiting it would be to the Edmonton area where my brother and his family live. The kids grow up so fast and when you only get to see them once or twice a year, they're like new people I have to meet all over. My favorite place to be is where my family is.
This is so great, our world is full of people documenting the best times in their lives. Everything they see that they enjoy, their kids first thing in the morning being silly. For most people, it's just a matter of snapping a quick photo to have it but how many times do they go back and look at it? There's always a next and by the end of the day we end up with
dozens of new photos but have already forgotten about the first.
These never end up on the walls of homes.
For me, photography is so much more than that. I don't just take pictures,
I document and share stories of the families in them. I am creating timeless art that will decorate their homes and outlive many generations.
I love seeing families reaction to their images and the excitement for hanging them in their home for their children to see as they grow. I have the ability to bring so much joy to many people and that brings me the most joy.
We have the ability to capture every moment of our lives in our hands at any time
