As parents with a new baby on the way or just arrived, life is hectic and unpredictable isn't it? Preparing and arriving for your newborn session shouldn't be.
Instead, I do my best to offer a smooth process that leaves you feeling relaxed and confident that you and your family are ready for your session and in good hands when you get there.
When you book a newborn session with myself, I will send you a brief questionnaire that asks questions like what colors you want and anything you want to avoid, prop selection etc to get an idea of what you are looking for in your session. This helps me plan and prepare so that I have everything set up and ready when you arrive at the studio. You are welcome to select other options you see and love if not already set out.
After that, I will send you a preparation guide with a few simple steps and tips to help the day of your session go as smooth as possible and put your mind at ease that I am prepared for your family and any potential hic ups. Hey, babies are unpredictable right? I've seen a lot but some babies still do surprise me at times!
I want you to feel at ease right from our initial conversation to booking through completing your session and beyond.
You are able to reach out at any point with any questions or concerns, even for some support about clothing choices if you need it. That's about the extent of most of my clients worries, just making sure everyone looks nice and cohesive. Oh, and try not to worry too much about your other children if you have them to be included in your session and whether or not they will cooperate or behave for the duration of the session. We have options!
First, I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages and personalities, and I am a certified childhood educator, I also run a dayhome! While I don't promise I will be able to child-whisper your little ones, I can promise I will do my best to incorporate your children as much as possible and to capture them together in the best ways possible. I will allow your children the time they need to warm up to being in a strange place with a strange person holding a scary black thing and making silly faces at them. I am gentle and patient and I never force it. Some times it just takes a little extra time and magic on my end compositing multiple images together to create one great image.
My studio is in my home where my dayhome also operates and the spaces where both will be re-locating to and re-opening in just a matter of weeks will be side by side. Your children are welcome to use the play room and play with the toys and books to help them feel comfortable and welcome when they are not needed to be in photos.
Alternatively, if your children don't do well staying in one place for long they can either be brought at the start of the session and we can do the family/sibling images first and they can be taken home or out for a fun activity while we finish up, or they can be brought at the end of the session after we've captured all of the images of baby on his or her own for the family and sibling images.
I also offer a snack and drink selection to keep those tummy's happy!
The last thing I want to do is add any additional stress to your already busy life so I do my best to make your photography experience a great one that you can feel excited for and at ease when the time comes.
